Important Announcements/Dates:

Bots are expected to be near completion by September 24th, so that programmers are able to begin testing autonomous programs. We will be having a “bot off” on October 2nd, where we will be continuing the design and development of two of the four bots. Important dates can be found on our calendar.

Tuesday, September 4th

Today our four teams continued on construction of their prototype robots. This meeting’s focus was on the drive train, which is the base of the robot, and provides the driving motion. This component is extremely important as it is the foundation for the entire robot, so we encouraged detailed planning and taking time on actual construction. One point we also made sure to have documented was configuration for motors on the entire robot. We documented these details in order to allow the team programmers to get a grip of what they will need to program.

Thursday, September 6th

This Thursday our team continued working on their drive trains. We had one of 4 teams successfully complete an operable drive train. This drive train proved to be sufficient for getting onto the middle platforms, both the team platform and top shared platform. Two of the other teams are nearing completion of their drive trains and will be finishing them into next week, and hopefully testing. After the drive trains are complete, teams will start another phase of their robot development. The exact part of the robot they build next will be up to the team on how they decide to do that. Teams are also working very well in their engineering notebooks, and are expected to continue to do so for the rest of the season.
